About Us

Troop 77 was founded in March of 2001 with the remaining members of Troop 4, which had just folded. While our Troop is located in Susquehanna Township, Scouts are welcome to join no matter where they’re from. Our Troop currently includes scouts from 12 different schools.

Our Troop meets at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, at 1492 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg PA 17110.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the age range for joining Scouts BSA?

Youth can be Scouts if they have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old, or have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, or are older than 10 but under 18 years old.

What is the responsibility of a parent of a new Scout?

Troop meetings are intended to be an activity lead by youth, for youth. They are not a family activity, and the presence of parents can be a distraction. However, parental involvement can be beneficial. If a parent or guardian would like to be present during a Troop meeting, that is okay. Parents are also needed for volunteers on campouts, or for a position on the troop committee or as an assistant Scoutmaster.

How do adults get involved?

Adults can get involved in many different ways. If you’re interested, please let us know at a Troop meeting.

Who should we contact with any questions?

Reach out to your Scout’s patrol leader. If you don’t know who that is, reach out to the senior patrol leader, the Scoutmaster, or other Troop adult depending on the nature of your question.

How often does a troop meet?

We meet once each week on Monday nights at our Troop meeting. Patrols may decide to have patrol outings, campouts usually occur once a month on different weekends, and Scouts in leadership roles will be invited to the Troop PLC meetings once a month on the third Wednesday.

What is a patrol?

A Scout patrol is a small team of normally six to eight Scouts where patrol members learn skills together, share responsibilities and take on leadership roles.

Who plans the meetings and activities?

The Patrol Leaders’ Council plans all meetings and activities, with guidance from adults. This ensures our Troop is youth lead.
